Our mission is to ensure that students are prepared to find meaningful employment (whether they will be looking for work to support themselves or for a weekend job for extra pocket money in college), develop a network of connections and supportive adults who can help them achieve their goals, and have the confidence in their skills to thrive in the vocation of their choice.
In an increasingly competitive economy, there are fundamental skills that students need to position themselves for success as they enter the workplace and institutions of higher learning. Starting Blocks partners with local high schools and teen centers to teach seniors from traditionally underserved communities how to apply for a job or internship and leverage their personal relationships to get where they want to go in life.
